Human Spirit : Heavenly Gesture

After a long gap of year and half the astute followers of Indian Cricket team were anticipating the Cricket all inclusive of what its most talked about; like Spirit-of-the-Game, National Integrity, One Religion, so on and so forth the ideologies put forward. The occasion being the first T20 match against the Kiwi’s scheduled to be played at Vishakapatnam. The reason for that was only the return of Yuvraj Singh to the International arena rather than the so called excitement of the T20’s accepted generally.

Knowing Yuvraj only from his second day at International Cricket, one can easily acknowledge his adore for the game and his commitment towards the goal equally. He’s the first man to whom a Captain can turn and guarantee a cent percent effort may it be with the bat, ball or on the field. Time and again we have witnessed his knack of placing the team ahead of self and the best example about that would be the last 50 over world cup where he played with deep pain only to cause an extra spinner in the struggling Indian bowling line up. His reward, Man-of-the-Series exemplifies the best on Human Spirit and the result achieved by a committed Man. Very humbly he credited his award to the Great Sachin Tendulkar and honestly acknowledge the fact of wanting to win the Cup for him.

We have read and heard enough about his selection to the biggest platform as an emotional gesture of the Indian selectors and that it would further enhance the teams’ performance. Even the critics stayed away from commenting against as it would have initiated an emotional outburst from every corner of the country and may have shattered the hopes of Yuvraj himself (although the news channel would love that scenario which meant higher TRP’s and ‘milking the cow’ opportunity).

Following Yuvraj since that second day you and I can easily warrant that he belongs here at the ultimate stage and that his achievements are way below par from his capabilities. The gas within him is yet to exhaust if not extracted yet. At Vishakapatnam he would be one such player roaring towards the field and announcing his return alongside stamping the wish-will-spirit bestowed on humans by that almighty. And it was only him who could have stopped Yuvraj’s return on the day it was planned to happen. As was the case it was rain God who came down on the Cricket field to express his love and perhaps to salute the indomitable character shown by Yuvraj while conquering one of the worst battles of his life against Cancer and standing tall fit, fine and smiling.

On following days we would see the return on Yuvraj and we wish him luck and success as he has been the illustration for all those people grappling with pain and sorrow. And that day would be a true Heavenly Gesture by God on his favourite creation. To quote Knaan “We patiently wait, for that fateful day, it’s not far away, but for now we say... When I get older, I will be stronger; they call me freedom, just like a waving flag.....AND THEN IT GOES BACK! AND THEN IT GOES BACK!! AND THEN IT GOES BACK!!!
